“This little light of mind, I’m gonna let it shine…”
I’ve been singing this to my daughter this week. We make little “lights” out of our pinky fingers and wave them around a bit. Or she does while I strum the guitar. I remember singing it when I was little and loving it but I’d kind of forgotten about it until now.
I think there is a lovely simplicity about it and a hopefulness. Whatever else is going on around the world, we still have the choice each day whether to shine or not. And this doesn’t mean doing something noteworthy or brilliant or starry. Just choosing to be a little bit of sunshine instead of the opposite.
So this is my mantra this week. And I love a mantra that works just as well off the mat as on.
